Multiple Teams · Meet Our New Athletic Trainer – Cathy Reeves, DPT, ATC, COMT, CIRS

RPI Grand OpeningMt. Vernon High School would proudly like to take this opportunity to introduce you to our new Athletic Trainer, Cathy Reeves!

“As the athletic trainer for Mt. Vernon High School, I am very excited to be back in Posey County serving a community that has had a huge impact on me. It is an underserved area for physical therapy, and we are hoping our location will be more convenient for people to receive treatment. Our focus is patient care and therefore we will provide one-on-one appointments for our patients. I’m enjoying my time at the high school and look forward to meeting more of the community at our new clinic.”    – Cathy Reeves, DPT, ATC, COMT, CIRS

Ms. Reeves is a 2006 graduate of North Posey High School.  She received her Bachelors Degree in Athletic Training from the University of Evansville in 2010.  Two years later, Cathy graduated from U of E with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy.  Before coming to MVHS this fall, she worked in Owensboro at Orthopedic and Sports Medicine (OSMO) for years.  During her time in Owensboro, Ms. Reeves was the Athletic Trainer for South Spencer High School so the “gig” at MVHS is not new for her.

During the day, Ms. Reeves and Deidre Barnes, PTA, can be found at the new Rehabilitation & Performance Institute located at 426 E. 4th Street here in Mt. Vernon where they specialize in one to one care for their patients.  Between the two of them, these ladies have 15 years of combined experience in treating patients with a variety of orthopedic and sports related injuries and diagnosis.  Ms. Reeves and Ms. Barnes welcome anyone in the community who are in pain to schedule an appointment with them.

In the MV training room, Cathy has a U of E protegee with her:  Maddy Green.  Ms. Green is typically at all of the events with her and is highly qualified in helping to assess and treat sideline injuries.

In addition, Cathy wants all of our student athletes and parents to know that her hours here at MVHS are from 3 – 5 pm on both Monday and Wednesday afternoons, and on Friday from 3 – 4 pm.  She will be at all home varsity Girls and Boys Basketball games, as well as all home Wrestling events (JV & V).  However, if you need to contact her, she welcomes you to call or stop in her office during the day as she is more than willing to see student athletes at that time!

When you get a chance, join me in welcoming Cathy, Maddie and Deidra to our community and thank them for the services they are providing to our student athletes!
