Following guidelines posted by the Indiana DOE and the IHSAA, Mt. Vernon High School is scheduling our “Return to Play” activities. The current plan is for summer conditioning and sports to resume on Monday, July 6, 2020. The guidelines that we are following will include: screening, personal hygiene, social distancing and sanitizing of equipment and facilities. We will also plan for speed/agility/strength training 4 days per week using the following schedule:
- Monday through Thursday, 6:30 am: Junior and Senior MALE athletes
- Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am: Freshman and Sophomore MALE athletes
- Monday through Thursday, 4:30 pm: All FEMALE athletes
These sessions have been established to allow us to follow NFHS recommendations as well as the state guidelines for the number of student athletes who can be gathered at one location.
Additionally, teams will be having meetings prior to the start of July 6 to discuss the schedules for their specific teams, address concerns as well as make sure that the NEW IHSAA Health Questionnaire OR NEW Physicals have been completed and submitted prior to July 6. No student athlete will be allowed to start workouts on July 6 without either completing a NEW IHSAA Pre-Participation Examination (aka: Physical) or, if last year’s IHSAA Physical is to be used – the Health Questionnaire must be completed via hard copy.
If your student athlete is a returning athlete to MVHS, please use this link to update their athletic registration: http://mtvernon-in.finalforms.com/ The Health Questionnaire can be downloaded per the FinalForms site or by printing this pdf: IHSAA Questionnaire
For all NEW athletes to Mt. Vernon Senior High School, the student athlete must be registered on FinalForms: http://mtvernon-in.finalforms.com AND a new IHSAA PPE must be completed. You can access this by printing the form directly from FinalForms as you complete your student athlete’s registration. If preferred, this form can be used: 2020-21 Physical Form (1)
