The MVHS Boys CC team competed in their first meet of the season and opened with Princeton Community HS, one of the Big 8 Conference favorites this season. Princeton returns 3 of their top 4 runners from a year ago and they finished 1,2 & 3 respectively. The ‘Cats then had their own pack of 3 runners all within 10 seconds of each other who placed 4, 5 & 6. Leading the way for Mt. Vernon was Micah Keller. He was closely followed by Noah Keller and Adam Duckworth. New-comer Jonathan West was 4th for the Wildcats finishing tenth overall and he was followed by Cade Latshaw placing 12th. Rounding out the top 7 for MV were two more new-comers: Kaleb McCaffry (13th) and Mitchell Wilson (15th). Luke McGennis and Luke Thompson also ran for the MV harriers.
The Boys’ team will be back in action at the Boonville Invite this Saturday, 8/22 with the gun set to go off at 9AM for the boys race. The course is flat and fast and we expect some fast times! Good Luck MV!
