Mt Vernon High School - Mt. Vernon 12th 302

When most people considered Saturday a cold, dreary and rainy day, the MV Boys Cross Country team seized an opportunity to run in cooler weather – and it paid off! All 5 guys who ran in the meet at Pride’s Creek in Petersburg ran PR’s for the course and most for the season. This course is the Regional Course for the IHSAA State Tournament and the goal is to get as many guys back here in 3 weeks as possible!

Braden Dike led the ‘Cats with a blistering 17:25.96 which earned him the 17th spot overall. Tommy Kelley followed in 25th place with an impressive 17:41.5. Danner Latshaw finished 64th with a 19:01.4. Senior Mitchell Wilson ran 4th for the ‘Cats with his best time since his freshman year: 20:02.51 putting him in 81st. Finishing out the scoring for MV was Sophomore Seth Dewar (115th) in a time of 23:06.85.

MV will be at Jasper next weekend for the Big 8 Conference meet. We hope to be at full strength and make a push for the top! It will be an uphill battle against Jasper and Princeton, but the guys are up for a challenge. #WeAreMVXC!
