Boys Varsity Cross Country · MVXC Runs PR’s Enroute to 5th Place Finish at Alan Hopewell Class Invitational

  Place Points
Mt Vernon High School - Mt. Vernon 5th 55

Only needing 3 scores for a team at Gibson Southern, the ‘Cats ran season PR’s to finish 5th out of 17 schools represented at the 38th annual Class Invitational. Once again Tommy Kelley ran at the front for Mt. Vernon maintaining his position in the top 10 for nearly the entire race. Posting an 18:15 (18 seconds faster than last weekend) for 3.1 miles put him at 8th in the Junior/Senior Boys race. Had all 154 males competed in a single race, Tommy would have been 11th.
Danner Latshaw posted an 18:50 (27 seconds faster than last weekend) placing him 15th in the Junior/Senior race and 23rd on the night overall. Mitchell Wilson also posted a season PR in dropping 1 minute and 12 seconds from last week to finish at 20:27 (32nd place).
Also running for the ‘Cats in the Frosh/Soph race was Seth Dewar who was not to be outdone on the evening in dropping 25 seconds from his race last Saturday to finish with a 23:59.
The guys are headed in the right direction – keep up the hard work MVXC!
They will race again on Saturday, 9/8 at Angel Mounds in the Mater Dei Invitational.
